Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director of Finance will be a key member of the leadership team, playing an instrumental role in elevating the finance and accounting functions, where they will be responsible for providing financial stewardship and direction. We are poised for significant growth and this role will become a leader, influencer, and flag bearer for the entire organization to both internal teammates and external clients, prospects, and the Board of Directors.
Critical success factors in the first year include:
Immerse oneself within the corporation and expand an understanding of the agency's center groups. develop best in elegance accounting and finance guidelines and tactics from a national attitude to harmonize the corporation's nearby accounting. Create, build confidence, and set up him/herself as an knowledgeable, successful, and informed useful resource amongst internal and external stakeholders. evaluation, advocate, and enforce modifications to the prevailing IT and technology infrastructure to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of the finance department, the fine and class of records and insights, and the intensity of reporting and evaluation. prepare normal and timely reporting to the CEO and Board (and external stakeholders as required) on KPIs associated with the Strategic marketing strategy and month-to-month monetary performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction to the leadership team.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all financial statements and other financial reports.
- Proactively seek feedback on reports and continuously revise reporting to ensure maximum value and optimal support for decision-making is achieved.
- Oversee the financial reporting process for the consolidated entity in partnership with the Controller and oversee the quarterly and year-end reporting process for the Company's divisions.
- Evaluate opportunities for improvements in the financial reporting processes and work directly with the team to implement changes.
- Development and management of capital and annual operating budgets.
- Present summary reports to leadership with quality input into the business performance.
- Ensure processes are in place to manage compliance with all banking covenants.
- Develop strategies related to treasury including financing, banking, and cash management.
- Ensure compliance with all tax jurisdictions and those tax obligations are paid following provincial and federal deadlines.
- Monitor and recommend changes to the corporate structure to optimize tax efficiencies.
- Manage the Company's legislative compliance in the areas of taxation, securities, etc.
- Partner with leadership to develop and action growth plans and strategic, financial, and operational priorities.
- Conduct and monitor financial performance against operational objectives and KPIs.
- Ensure information and reports are available on a real-time basis and used by management to drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
- Oversee the identification and monitoring of financial and operational risks, and development of strategies to address risks.
- Work directly with external auditors in the development and execution of the audit plan and manage and minimize audit fees through effective planning and preparation.
- Manage banking and financing relationships. Establish solid relationships with bankers and other financial partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the Company's internal and external partners and stakeholders.
Professional Experience + Qualifications
- 10+ years' progressive accounting and finance experience with 3+ years' experience in financial leadership role in a multi-business unit environment.
- Quantifiable and robust record of financial achievement. Strong accounting and financial background, including oversight of P&L, cash flow management, and corporate governance.
- Proven track record of sound strategic and financial decision making, capital investment analysis, and financial oversight.
- Strong capabilities in financial reporting, data analysis, and forecasting. Experienced in identifying and implementing financial and operational improvements.
- Financially minded with a strong numerical aptitude. Ability to distill insights from a complex data set and develop strategies and action plans to address areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
- Embraces technological advancements. A champion and steward of digital technologies. Capable of navigating complex data and providing analytics and predictive scenarios that drive action and decision-making.
- Proven results in tax compliance, budgeting, forecasting, operational planning, performance management, and quarterly reporting.
- Experience in treasury specifically; balance sheet strategy, capital management, funds transfer, pricing, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management.
- Experience reporting into and participating in Board level, or executive discussions. Experience delivering sophisticated and informative Board reporting materials.
- Experience developing organizational KPIs and reporting in support of tactical and strategic decision-making.
- Effective at explaining complex financial information to non-financial managers.
- Strong people leader with a record of success developing high-performing teams. Proven success managing the performance and development/growth of teams. Delegates effectively and monitors the team to ensure they have the skills and resources to meet deadlines and commitments.
Education Required
- A proven track record of success in a similar growth minded organization is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree, ideally in business, commerce or a related field is required.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
