Securiguard Service Ltd. Is looking to add a Manager, People Operations to their leadership team. This position is grounded in HR best practices and requires someone ambitious, hands-on, and ready to jump in the trenches and support our regional teams while delivering on the organization's national people operations plan. Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President leading culture, the Manager, People Operations plays a key role in supporting Securiguard's business leaders to deliver on being a best-in-class culture in a complex and stimulating environment. This position will oversee all areas related to employee and labor relations: Union relations, Grievance and Complaint Administration, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Employment Law, Benefits, Rewards & Recognition, Respectful Workplace & Diversity, and Organizational Development.

The Manager, People Operations is required to manage, carry out and oversee numerous activities and projects simultaneously as well as contribute to the strategic direction of Securiguard by playing a key role in medium to long-term planning and decision-making. The impact of this role will be both in the field and at the corporate level - bringing to life tactical and robust human resource policies, procedures, and initiatives that focus on streamlining and improving the entire system.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead by example by living the company's core values and culture in day-to-day behaviors and interactions with all colleagues. Drive and reinforce the culture through all initiatives
  • Participate in the development of policies, guidelines, standards, and strategies to guide senior management at H/O and in all regions in conducting proper human resources activities
  • Engage in constructive union-management relationship and collective bargaining processes. This includes co-ordinating and acting as a key participant in the collective bargaining process, advising management and working with union officials on the interpretation and application of the collective agreement, and managing the grievance process
  • Oversee and investigate all employee relations and labor-related matters as they relate to federal, provincial, and local employment laws
  • Use KPI's, benchmarking, and other assessment tools to analyze skill gaps, and to proactively address performance management issues as well as develop new performance management processes
  • Maintain a close relationship with the finance and operations teams to keep up-to-date on changes with local labour laws that could impact working conditions. Analyze these changes and make recommendations
  • Implement new and/or enhance existing staff recognition and rewards programs.
  • Evaluate, develop, and negotiate benefits programs that meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and is cost effective. As well, develop communications and counsel employees on benefits-related issues
  • Manage special HR projects pertinent to the evolution of the business

Required skills

  • Organic ability to demonstrate company's core values and lead by example
  • Minimum 5 years' HR Management with Generalist and/or Specialist experience
  • Human Resources degree or equivalent required
  • Experience with an unionized environment and a focus on labour relations
  • Must have demonstrated deep and broad proficiency with applicable labour laws/regulations and management theories, including policy/procedure development
  • Ability to lead meetings and presentations, and ability to interface with all levels of staff with tact and diplomacy is a must
  • Bonus if you have experience in the security industry (not required)
