Securiguard is currently looking for an Operations Manager to join our team of certified professionals. Location: Terrace/Kitimat/Prince Rupert.

Working with our internal and external stakeholders, the Operations Manager oversees the administrative and organizational communication between the office and the staff. The role of the Operations Manager is to ensure the smooth operation of the North Coast Branch Office in the facets of recruitment, payroll, administration, quality assurance, and management of labor force. Demonstrates an excellent safety behavior and attitude, follows regulatory practices and rules, recognizes and promotes hazard reports and ensures effective safety reporting. Exhibits strong operations management while driving the success of the performance driven KPIs. Models and promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety and security practices through effective leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimizes operations and performance within the Securiguard team while working closely with the Branch Management Team.
  • Manages the recruitment and mobilization process.
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of site specific post orders.
  • Ensures adherence to Securiguard policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the mobile, vehicle and training departments, payroll, scheduling, accounts payable and personnel management.
  • Leads the Health and Safety Program, in acquiescence with the Operations Manager, Security to create a safety-minded culture on all sites.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to employees and ensures that People and Culture guidelines are adhered to.
  • Formulates creative solutions to suit business need
  • Drives process improvements to encourage efficiency in business processes
  • Liaise between the client and guard force to ensure communication and service delivery is held to the highest mutual standard
  • Resolve issues and challenges brought forth from the in-field leadership team and the client representatives.
  • Present technological solutions and value added service enhancements to the clients based on changing client needs.
  • Monitor the training progress and post/site specific knowledge of each guard on site.

  • Create, maintain and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual KPI reports to the clients per our Executive Management Oversight Program.

 Job Duties:

Securiguard Safety Program

  • Evaluate the competency levels of all Securiguard personnel:
    • to ensure that they are able to meet the clients' operational needs
    • To identify the need for training and development
    • To ensure safety and security compliance
  • Ensure competency levels of all Securiguard personnel are available to meet the clients' operational needs, identify the need for training and development, ensure safety and security compliance
  • Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings
  • Inspect all worksites to ensure that the Securiguard Safety Program is in compliance with contract obligations and all client safety requirements.
  • Document all site Inspections
  • Coordinates a monthly meeting with the primary client contract representatives on each site
  • Obtain the annual projected personnel requirements and review with the Branch Management Team, and complete action plan for recruitment, training requirements and Quality Assurance Audits
  • Complete training matrix on Securiguard personnel as necessary in regards to safety & security compliance, document non-conformance in FileMaker database and issue corrective action reports and monitor, report to the client contract representatives, Regional Director and to Executive team as it occurs, and through weekly reports and quarterly summary review
  • Conduct on-going safety quality assurance processes of Supervisors, Senior Security Guards and Security Guards
  • Assist in the investigation and report on all incidents involving Securiguard on client sites
  • Responsible for conducting site reviews, writing audit/review reports, reviewing findings, and making recommendations to client contract representatives and the Securiguard Regional Manager
  • Monitors and evaluates Operations teams' performance on key safety and security issues and programs, recommends corrective action programs.
  • Establishes/maintains robust customer relationship

  • Maintains knowledge of complex industry trends, current safety issues and safety technology and update the Regional Manager and Operations Manager, Security on risk and threats that could impact company business.

People and Culture

  • Responsible for providing leadership, advice and counsel to Securiguard supervisory and leadership team on advertising and recruitment practices.
  • Directly responsible for the creation and delivery of job postings and recruitment.
  • Provides leadership, advice and counsel to all site security team members in achieving current and long range strategic program objectives.
  • Training needs are identified and processed promptly
  • Use of reporting and tracking for site review and daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reports
  • Maintains Securiguard's Learning Management System (LMS) while addressing and identifying training needs promptly.
  • Ensure that all Securiguard personnel are upholding their training and development schedules and oversee the progression of their training and promotions.
  • Responsible for providing information and advice to the Regional Director on matters relating to advertising, recruitment, mobilization and pre-access testing/training.
  • Responsible for various reporting requirements required through our JV partners and/or customers

Administration and Finance

  • Oversees the day to day administrative operations of the branch with support from the Branch Management team
  • Oversees scheduling, terminations, record of employments, deductions, wages, BC Employment standards, WCB standards and business licensing requirements.
  • Conducts weekly reports for payroll, accounts payable and weekly executive reports.
  • Manages the billing and invoicing administration for static, mobile and training services in the region.


  • University Degree and/or College Diploma or certificate in Security Operations, or equivalent experience.
  • Supplementary course work including CPP or other industry standard certification, Security Operations, Safety Training, Health & Safety, First Aid Certifications, Defensive Driving, Emergency Management, Supervising for Safety
  • Military, policing, security or emergency service training is an asset.
  • Marine Facility Security Officer (MFSO) Designation


  • Minimum of two years' experience as a supervisor in an operational setting combined with or in addition to working in the security industry or law enforcement preferred.
  • Enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trusted base relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills.
  • Outstanding commitment to client service.
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills, with a 'hands on', problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents.
  • Experience of writing procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting duty rosters to meet shortfalls in staffing levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines efficiently.
  • Experience in creating a growth plan.
  • Proficient in the use of computers.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
  • Strong time management skills in order to manage a 80% in field, 20% in office time commitment.

Special Training and Qualifications:

  • BST required
  • Provincial Security Guard License required.
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation or equivalent American Society for Industrial Security certification standing is an asset.
  • MFSO designation is an asset
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) or equivalent threat assessment training is an asset.
  • Demonstrated attributes in leadership, judgment, decision making, delegation, planning, organizing, problem solving, analytical skill, interpersonal sensitivity and tolerance are required.
  • Computer literacy on Microsoft Office required.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License, have an acceptable Driver's Abstract.
  • Program design and development skills, including needs assessment and the creation of innovative solutions driven by specific business results.
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of asset and information protection principles necessary to plan and implement security programs and solutions in support of the business.
  • Must have strong management presentation and negotiation skills as well as proven experience in organizing and directing staff/team work and coordinating such activities to a successful conclusion.
  • Requires strong analytical and problem solving skills to review, evaluate, recommend changes and/or develop and implement new programs as requirements and customer needs change.
  • Must have the skill and ability to conduct and/or support sensitive investigations involving company personnel, assets and/or proprietary information.
  • Must have ability to develop unique solutions that balance the needs of the business without loss or compromise of company assets.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to conduct dynamic presentations to clients and staff; ability to effectively mediate and intervene in workplace, client and staff issues.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in office 20% and in the field 80%
  • 40 50 hour work week. Some evening and weekend work.  On-call 24/7 for Operations support on critical issues (rotate)
  • Quality Assurance Audits and staff mentoring often require on-site work, under every working condition found in the company.
  • Ability to travel throughout the North Coast or beyond may occur with very little notice to accommodate client requirements.
  • May have to operate a company marked fleet vehicle from time to time.
