The City of Vancouver is a Living Wage employer and Securiguard Services is proud to be their contract Security provider. We are now accepting external applications for various positions around Vancouver.

What is Living Wage?

A living wage is different than a minimum wage. The minimum wage is the legislated minimum set by the provincial government. The minimum wage should be set at a rate high enough to lift an individual worker out of poverty. An adequate minimum wage is the government's responsibility to address working poverty. 

A living wage is an opportunity for employers to do better. A living wage calls on employers to meet a higher standard for their both staff and major contractors, to ensure that wages reflect the true costs of living in a community and that parents can earn what they need to support their families. More than 80 Living Wage Employers across BC agree and have certified with the Living Wage for Families Campaign. The Living Wage for Families also advocates for policies that would positively impact families. We support the call for quality and affordable child care as well as for housing policies that would help low-wage families make ends meet

What your responsibilities are

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Comfortable with Radio Communication
  • Able to write detailed reports on job-related activities
  • Keen eye for observing exterior and interior premises
  • Access Control
  • Report all incidents and health and safety concerns to appropriate agencies and think of ideas in keeping these from reoccurring
  • Demonstrate empathy when handling situations where homeless and/or individuals with mental health/drug addiction issues are involved when possible


  • Valid BC Security License
  • At least 1-year security experience
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working in a Customer Service environment
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 or 2 (asset)
  • Class 5 Driver's License (asset)
  • Mental Health Training (asset)
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be comfortable to work outdoors working 8-12 hour shifts
