The Operations Manager will be directly responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day Security Operations for client(s).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure maintenance of strong and effective relationships with client customers and key stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership, advice and counsel to all site security team members in achieving client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the training and deployment of guards for all operational sites within portfolio
  • Managing team members in an effective and efficient manner with a focus on personnel retention and professional development.
  • Responsible for conducting site reviews, writing audit/review reports, reviewing findings, and making recommendations to the client
  • Responsible to perform annual risk analysis for the Operational sites within their responsibility, including but not limited to disaster recovery plan, critical incident command process and protocol, etc.
  • Responsible for providing advice and counsel to the client on security policy and practices. Identifies exposures and recommendations.
  • Serves as lead in regards to conducting investigations of significant threats and/or the loss or misappropriation of assets for clients/sites, and employee discipline as necessary.
  • Performs incident analysis and investigation relative to all incidents with advice and closure to all stakeholders.
  • Develops and implements site specific training and improvement programs. 
  • Ensure resources are appropriately and efficiently allocated to key areas of work and that priorities are always covered adequately
  • Responsibility for budgets; ensuring proper controls and management to achieve deliverables to clients and the company
  • Use of reporting and tracking for site visits and monthly/quarterly reports
  • Ongoing review of the non-billable overtime at sites, and liaise with team to reduce and rectify the causative factors. 
  • Attends the weekly operations meetings to table and discuss issues effecting the operational requirements in relation to the service delivery to guards and clients.
  • Manage all employee relations vacation/leave/day-off requests, transfers, coaching, deportment reinforcement, discipline, recognition and development.
  • Maintain Security Operations Manuals/post orders and all site directives with updates annually  

Job Requirements:  

  • University Degree and/or College Diploma or certificate in Personnel Management, Business Management, Human Resources experience in an operational setting involving the management and supervision of a large number of staff members with key focus on:

          o Business Analysis expertise

          o Motivation and leading others

          o Negotiation Skills

          o Team Building 

  • Minimum of three to five years' experience as a manager in an operational setting combined with or in addition to working in the security industry or law enforcement preferred.
  • Degree or diploma in security management, risk management or business continuity an asset.
  • Security professional with proven management experience within the security industry, the public sector is an asset.
  • Enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trusted base relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels 
  • Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills 
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills, with a 'hands on' problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents 
  • Experience with writing procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting duty rosters to meet shortfalls in staffing levels 
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
