The Airside Escort Program is responsible for the safe and secure movement of persons and vehicles operating airside in accordance with the Vancouver Airport Authority Airside Traffic Directives and Canadian Aviation Security Regulations.

The Dispatcher, Airside Escorts is a new position that will be responsible to organize, coordinate, direct and communicate the day to day movement and assignment of Airside Escorts according to specific project site requirements and Standard Operating Procedures. This position will be accountable to efficiently and effectively allocate Airside Escorts to optimise the use of Airside Escorts with primary consideration to airport safety and security.  This position will also be responsible for monitoring in 'real time' the escort vehicle tracking system and for maintaining complete and accurate records of all escort assignments in the Airside Escort Assignment Log.

This is a fast paced and at times high pressure environment. The Dispatcher will require the ability to multi task and make decisions quickly. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as the main 'day of' point of contact for all Airside Escorts
  • Monitors in 'real time' the location of Airside Escorts via a vehicle monitoring and tracking system
  • Receives calls from the Groundside Arrivals Coordinator and other personnel for requests for Airside Escorts
  • Dispatches appropriate Airside Escort resources with consideration to project location, purpose of trip, project site security requirements, optimal delivery routes and airport safety and security regulations, policies and procedures (SOP's)
  • Maintains database records of all Airside Escort assignments in the Airside Escort Assignment Log
  • Manages break relief and adhoc Airside Escort requests


Job Requirements

  • Proficient in English, written and oral
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Previous experience in a dispatch position
  • Strong knowledge of the airside environment, security procedures and guidelines preferred
  • Previous experience working with computers and two-way radio systems
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions, analyze and manage situations and make decisions rapidly
  • Ability to multi task and problem solve using sound judgement
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends and holidays
